10.   "Our First Year"

Our First Year we were holding our breath and showing no fear

We met September at my uncle’s barbeque
Getting her attention that’s what I had to do
So I ate up her coleslaw when no one dared to
It tasted kinda funny

Our first date was a Halloween night
Met her old boyfriend, he wanted to fight
But he never brought it on, he was more bark than bite
All dressed up like a loser

Went to her parents on Thanksgiving Day
Her daddy was quiet and her brother was late
But her mama made magic with that Kitchen Aid
I got a goodbye kiss from grandma

We hung candy canes on tumbleweed
Made snow angels for Santa to see
Started kissing on New Year’s Eve
We were busy when the ball dropped

Spring break, Cozumel, something hit us below the belt
I think it was the habaneras, oh my goodness!

Bottle rockets on the Fourth of July
Up the hill on a blanket we were watchin’ em fly
We were lying on our backs smelling the sky
In a cloud of gunpowder

Camping out on an August night
Rain in the tent and a busted flashlight
Sunburns and mosquito bites
I swear there was a bear in the bushes

A vacation in love out of the rain in a pub
